As you flip through the "Best of" Contest winning projects, you may be wondering who were the decision makers. Here are our fantastic judges, all of whom bring loads of experience and impeccable taste to this contest.

Bulent Baydar, AIA, NCARB
Before
Bulent Baydar, AIA, NCARB, is a project architect at Harrison Design Associates

Project architect at Harrison Design Associates. His keen eye for structure and form was absolutely instrumental in the judging process. We leaned heavily on his expertise when it came to judging the more substantial remodeling work in our winners’ projects. We appreciate Bulent’s unique perspective and that he took time out of his busy schedule to judge on our panel.
“I particularly loved how many of these projects used a mixture of various textures and colors, like the warm and the cool.”

Barbara English
Before
Barbara English, CEO of To The Trade Only

CEO of To The Trade Only, worked for 20 years as a designer and currently runs her business-to-business marketing firm To The Trade Only. She was also an interior designer and remodeling general contractor both in Georgia and Florida for 25 years. She founded and ran the design & film trade show called The Next Cool Event. Barbara’s humor and incisive critiques added much to the judging process and we’re grateful she took the time to contribute.

“There was a lot of vision in all of these projects. And a lot of planning. None of these looked like somebody was winging it by the seat of their pants!”

Susan’s extensive design experience, specifically her tile trend knowledge, came in extremely handy when we were judging the kitchen and bath projects. Her insightful feedback also added to our overall judging and we are thankful she agreed to be part of the 2014 judging team.

“Some of the best projects here were a great blend of contemporary and traditional…and that is what makes something timeless.”
