Replacing Old Windows

Everyone is Going Green - “Save Energy, Save Money, Save the Planet”
It may not sound very sexy, but slashing energy cost at home is a great way to save money and ultimately the planet.  Did you know that as much as half of your homes energy cost goes to heating and cooling?   This is a direct result of heat-gain/heat-loss, which occurs from your windows and doors.  While new homes can be built with efficiency in mind, existing homes typically have areas for improvement.

Consider replacing your old windows by installing new Energy efficient windows.  But first, do your homework, make sure you choose a high-performance window with two panes of glass and a low-e coating.  Low-admittance (low-e) coatings are virtually invisible metallic oxide layers deposited on a window glazing surface to suppress radiant heat flow.  Choose a window with a low U-factor for better insulation.  The U-factor is the rate in which a window conducts non-solar heat flow.  Here in the South a good replacement window will have a U-factor of less than 34.  Windows with a low U-factor will keep the heat inside during the winter and outside during those hot summer days.

Also, make sure to have your windows installed by trained professionals according to manufacturer’s instructions; otherwise, you may void the warranty.  Call us today at Home Right Solutions for a free in home consultation.
