When selecting granite or others natural stone material for your kitchen counters or bathroom vanity, never purchase from a sample or a photograph. The colors in pictures viewed on line are illusory. You have to find the time to go to the fabricator who had inventory and go look at the actual slabs.
Stone can vary considerably in a particular slab. This variance can be so great that slabs from the same quarry can look like a completely different slab to slab. Always view the full slabs that will be used in your project. Where possible hand pick your slabs.
Another consideration is that viewing stone from small samples doesn’t allow you to appreciate the stone’s unique colors and variations, the direction of the movement or the possible undesirable qualities of a given stone slab.
Stone counter tops can represent a significant investment in the beauty of your home. Always shop at a fabricator that has a significant investment in slab inventory of matching slabs and make sure you know exactly what you are getting.
