Budget Makeover Captures Personality of Interior Design Business

After moving their design business into a new office, Joann Kandrac and Kelly Kole, of Kandrac & Kole Interior Designs, soon began work on a budget makeover for their new space. They wanted the design to reflect the company's creative energy while also appealing to their clients' sophisticated taste. The result captured both:

Using an antique dining table that matched the historic architecture of the building, Joann and Kelly were able to create the perfect balance between yesterday and today. The brightly repainted and reupholstered chairs from Scott Antique Market coupled with a graphic black-and-white area rug give the room a crisp, vibrant look, and a floral paper chandelier over the center of the table adds a major "wow" factor. What's more, the project came in at a pleasant price. Here is how the designers budgeted their expenses:

  • Paint: $56
  • Ikea bookcase: $129
  • Fabric for stretchers: $180
  • Stretchers: $60
  • Rug: $359
  • Chandelier:$89
  • (6) chairs: $60
  • Paint and vinyl for chairs: $60

Total: $993

For this makeover, Kandrac & Kole Interior Designs received an Honorable Mention in Atlanta Home Improvement's 2012 "Decorating on a Dime" Contest. Learn more about this budget makeover, and get more ideas from the other award-winning entries on our website.
